Mönkemöller chooses Hyster for flexible container handling.
Logistics and forwarding company Mönkemöller Speditionsgesellschaft mbH has received a new Hyster® H40XM-16CH laden container handler to increase the flexibility of its handling operations.
At its 10,000m2 depot in Bielefeld, Germany, Mönkemöller provides a range of logistics services, such as full and empty container storage, container forwarding and container weighing. The company, which is owned by Kuehne + Nagel, one of the world’s leading logistics providers, has been using tough Hyster® trucks for more than 30 years and was happy with an existing H32.00F-16CH laden container handler. However, as the weight of containers handled in the operation has increased in recent years, a new, higher capacity truck was needed.
“The Hyster® H40XM-16CH can handle loads of up to 40 tonnes and achieve a lift height of over 9.75m which is a better fit for the current requirements of the application,” says Arndt Reibold, Big Trucks Territory Manager for Hyster. “This ensures maximum flexibility throughout the company’s various handling activities,” he continues, explaining that the truck can stack laden 9´6″ containers up to 4 high in the first row, offering fuel savings of up to 20%.
In addition, the Hyster® laden container handlers can perform container shunting operations rapidly, reliably and with a low cost of operation. This helps deliver high ‘box-rates’ in first row only operations, as the Hyster® laden container handler can perform faster than many ReachStackers in the first row. The rear mounted “Vista” cab also benefits the application by providing good all-round visibility with a clear overhead container view.
To meet Mönkemöller’s container weighing requirements, the new truck has been equipped with the the Hyster® Static+ weighing system. At the touch of a button, the operator can activate a pre-programmed lift cycle to obtain the weight of the container.
“Drivers simply pick a container and lift the load for 5 seconds on a flat or even surface,” Arndt explains. “There is no workflow disruption as the container weighing can occur during truck manoeuvering and the system is highly accurate.”
Quick and easy to use, the flexible system can display Gross, Tare and Net weights. Based on hydraulic load sensing technology, Hyster® Static+ offers Mönkemöller low maintenance requirements, and complies with the OIML R51 class Y(b) guidelines.
“To guarantee our customers high quality standards with our depot service we need maximum uptime and that is why we chose a Hyster® truck,” says Alexander Herrmann, Container Depot Manager at Mönkemöller. “The strong network of Hyster® service partners across Germany helps to ensure maximum uptime and any parts required can be delivered to the Mönkemöller site within one day from the nearby factory in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.”
