Derry Bros achieved strong growth in 2025 with record numbers of hauliers, freight forwarders and logistics operators needing customs support for the movement of goods between the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. The company attracted 300 new customers during the past 12 months, resulting in more than 110,000 processed customs declarations. In particular, the volume of GB-NI declarations jumped by 47% as shippers sought smoother trade across the Irish Sea.
“We are using our longstanding expertise to provide guidance and support, so our expanding customer base can navigate a constantly evolving customs landscape,” explains Sarah-Louise Murray, Customs Manager at Derry Bros. “In the past year, we have increased our headcount by 25% and invested heavily in the digitisation of our processes to ensure we are best placed to handle any new requirements quickly, efficiently and safely.”
Derry Bros launched a self-service solution to allow users to take control of their customs requirements. As a smart, scalable solution to simplify customs, SelfClear provides total control of clearance, with no waiting around for agents and no unnecessary costs, just fast and effective declarations whenever required. The company has trialled and onboarded a growing number of customers, so they can independently generate – within minutes, 24/7 – Goods Movement References (GMRs) and GB Safety & Security Declarations (S&S).
A fully automated customs management solution for fulfilment providers moving goods between the UK and Ireland was also introduced in 2025. FulfilClear streamlines the entire customs process by automating exports and imports, ENS, PBN, and GMR generation in a single system, including CHED documentation if required. It is already helping a leading supermarket chain to transport groupage loads of refrigerated goods.
“Customs regulations will continue to develop in the UK and EU during 2026, so we see further growth opportunities for the business moving forward. We successfully supported our customers for the changeover to ICS2 ahead of the mandatory deadline, as well as providing consultation to enable them to navigate and remain compliant in the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regime,” adds Sarah-Louise Murray.
Derry Bros has more than 60 years of experience in the freight and logistics industry, serving the UK, EU and beyond. With a comprehensive range of managed booking, customs and consultancy services, it is helping businesses to navigate some of the most complex challenges facing cross-border trade and transport. The company’s success and proven track record are underpinned by award-winning technology systems, developed in-house, including the all-in-one digital customs solution, Digicom.
