POSTRACK LAUNCHES BATTERY-POWERED TRACKING SOLUTION WITH INTEGRATED TEMPERATURE MONITORING FOR COLD CHAIN LOGISTICS
Postrack, the European asset tracking specialist, has launched a smart temperature monitoring solution to help cold chain operators reduce costs, improve load safety and achieve high levels of operational compliance. The integrated tool is combined with battery-powered GPS tracking to deliver real-time visibility and complete control over sensitive shipments.
“For cold chain operators it is critical that medicines, food and chemicals are kept at the correct temperature throughout a journey to avoid wastage, additional overheads and a loss of customer trust,” explains Niclas Holm, Founder and CEO of Postrack. “During initial trials, the smart solution cut spoilage by 35 per cent for one food producer, while a pharmaceutical company was able to prove temperature stability and ensure regulatory compliance.”
A Bluetooth sensor connects wirelessly to the battery-powered tracking unit in the trailer or container, which transmits temperature and location data to Postrack’s cloud platform. As well as requiring no time-consuming and costly wired installation, the rugged, EN12830-certified sensor has up to 18 years battery life and is available in two options for -40 °C to +85 °C or -80°C to +200°C temperature ranges. The solution can also be integrated with door sensors to detect unauthorised opening and incorrect operating procedures.
The cloud platform logs and stores all data – temperature, location and events – in one place, with instant alerts if conditions go outside safe limits. It delivers full traceability and automated records for each shipment, providing a complete view of product condition at every stage of the journey. This allows operators to respond quickly to any issues in real-time, while simplifying audits and effectively proving compliance with temperature regulations and transport standards.
“Hard-wired solutions can be very time consuming and expensive to deploy, while also impacting on the thermal performance of a container. In contrast, our long-life, low-maintenance sensors, with cable-free installation, can be self-installed within a matter of minutes and provides complete visibility of all field-based assets on a single platform, which will be particularly useful spot hire vehicles. With automated monitoring and alerts, we are reducing a company’s transport, risk and compliance burdens by minimising checks, reducing spoilage and recalls, and elimination avoidable fines and insurance claims,” adds Holm.
With offices in Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK, Postrack delivers fully managed, end-to-end asset tracking solutions for industries ranging from road transport and logistics to construction, waste management and agriculture. The company was founded in 2008 and is committed to helping customers and partners optimise asset utilisation, reduce operational costs, and enhance security.
