HERMES TO CREATE OVER 100 JOBS AT NEW BOLTON DEPOT
Hermes UK, the UK’s largest dedicated parcel company, is opening a new distribution depot in Westhoughton, Bolton. Over 100 full time jobs will be created at the substantial 77,800sqft warehouse, which will be operational later this month.
The new facility will be able to handle over 220K parcels each day, three times as many as its previous site in the area, with the ability to operate 24/7 if required. It forms part of the ongoing investment programme by Hermes UK to expand its capacity to meet the huge demand created by people shopping at home during the pandemic and the continuing growth in the sector.
To support Hermes’ ESG commitments the new depot comes complete with EV charging as Hermes now has 30% electric vehicle ParcelShop fleet, smart lighting and is built to BREEAM certified specifications.
Phil Howard, Depot General Manager, Hermes UK, said, “We are all very excited here at Bolton to be moving into our new home. It shows the faith the business has in Team Bolton to deliver a world class service from this world class facility. We are all very grateful for this opportunity and would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen.”
