Cabka-IPS will present two robust, durable, and cost-saving plastic pallets for the beverage industry at Drinktec.
Many companies in the beverage industry are dealing with issues that are unavoidable with wooden pallets: high repair costs, dirt caused by chips and shavings, extra weight due to moisture, and lastly significant disposal costs for heavily damaged or soiled pallets. All of these issues add to the costs and hinder efficient logistics.
Cabka-IPS will be presenting the solution to this problem at Drinktec (September 11-15) in Munich in the form of two plastic pallets, the BPP i9 and the Keg S9. These pallets are tailored to meet the challenges and needs of the beverage industry and have already successfully contributed to safer processes and cost reductions at various companies.
At 23 kilos, the BPP i9 pool pallet made of recycled HDPE plastic weighs half as much as a comparable wooden pallet. That makes them easier to handle and saves CO2 when they are being transported. Nonetheless, with a load capacity of 1,500 kg in the high-bay rack, the pallet is extremely resilient. With its sturdy construction, it is designed for a long service life for pooling applications, while keeping repair expenses to a minimum.
A special gas-injection manufacturing process creates internal cavities in the BPP i9’s support system. This provides flexural stiffness and resilience. Large forklift pockets make them easy to handle and minimize the risk of forklift damage. Slip-resistant strips on the deck ensure safe handling, including when various kinds of beverage containers are involved.
In addition, Cabka-IPS will also present the Keg S9 plastic pallet at Drinktec. It was developed specially for the handling of 50 liter barrels (kegs) and is already being used at several breweries.
The pallet can accommodate up to eight kegs. The Keg S9 is also manufactured with the gas-injection process, which makes it extremely stable and durable, despite its low net weight. This makes the pallet perfectly suitable for transporting the heavy kegs. Centering rings hold the barrels in position while rubber inserts under the blocks ensure slip resistance.
At the end of their service lives, both the Keg S9 and the BPP i9 retain their material value. They are recycled by Cabka-IPS and become the raw material for new plastic pallets. This means they are part of a closed ecological cycle.
