Northern Freight Services is a haulage, distribution and warehousing company based in the North East of England. It was established in 1978 by Dave Lawson in his garage in Sunderland. Today the company is still privately owned by the family who play an integral role in running the business.
Northern Freight Services has the capacity to offer its customers 180,000 square foot of internal warehouse space, along with 9 acres of external storage space. To assist with the processes of handling its goods, Northern Freight Services contacted material handling experts B&B Attachments to provide them with a solution to improve their productivity when material handling. The distribution and warehousing company required specialist attachments to handle large tyres for Caterpillar Articulated Trucks. The tyres need to be lifted safely, rotated and inspected before being transported to Caterpillar in Peterlee, Co. Durham.

Northern Freight Services with a KAUP 4.8T453 Rotating Bale Clamp. This robust attachment rotates hydraulically 360° in both directions. The inside of the clamp arms of this attachment is optimised for damage-free lifting, clamping and transporting and is designed with toe-in on the tips.
B&B Attachments also supplied Northern Freight Services with a KAUP 3T408P Tyre Clamp for handling stacks. The KAUP Tyre Clamp is the ideal solution for the transport of vertical stacks of tyres, fitted with large contact pads to ensure the stack is fully secured and provide stable and safe handling. The attachments were fitted to JCB Teletrucks supplied by Permatt Fork Lift Trucks Ltd.
