Yale announced as finalist for UKWA Young Employee of the Year Award
- Yale Europe Materials Handling has been nominated for the Young Employee of the Year category in the 2019 UKWA Awards.
- Tyra Hurley, aged 20, joined Yale as a Major Accounts Sales Apprentice in August 2018.
- Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will be in attendance at the awards ceremony, due to be held at The Dorchester on Thursday 27 June 2019.
Yale Europe Materials Handling is thrilled to have been selected as one of three finalists in the Young Employee of the Year category of the UKWA Awards for Industry Excellence. Major Accounts Sales Apprentice Tyra Hurley, aged 20, was nominated by the company as a natural candidate for the prestigious award.
Tyra joined Yale® on a three-year apprenticeship in August 2018 with no previous experience of the materials handling industry. Since then, she has embraced what could have been a daunting learning curve fully: as a fast learner with a proactive nature, she has built up a base of knowledge not limited to Yale solutions, but also of the wider pain points and trends within the logistics and materials handling industry.
“Joining Yale as a Major Accounts Sales Apprentice has taught me a lot about the materials handling industry,” said Tyra. “This industry was unfamiliar to me when I entered it, and as a result I’ve had to learn a lot. In the last eight months I have spoken with people from across the industry and done specific research into aspects of the materials handling industry in preparation for assignments as well as completing several training courses. As a result, I have built a solid foundation of knowledge, which I intend to continue to grow in the future.”
Vince Cooke, Director of Major Accounts and Business Development, EMEA, says this about Tyra: “Though she is still in the early part of her training, Tyra has gained a sound understanding of how the landscape is changing within ecommerce and warehousing and shows a clear passion for the industry.
“She has been at the forefront of our business working closely with our engineering department, the solutions group, and our dealer network to identify solutions and drive productivity and enhance customer excellence. This award nomination is not only reflective of the dedication shown by Tyra towards her job, but also of the success of the Yale Major Accounts apprenticeship programme.”
Yale Europe Materials Handling is very proud of its Major Accounts apprenticeship programme which is training and developing the next generation of B2B sales representatives in the logistics industry. Using their degree training and in-depth understanding of the materials handling industry, the apprentices are uniquely placed to guide customers to productive solutions.
The Annual UKWA Lunch and Awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the industry’s calendar. This year the awards will take place at The Dorchester in London on Thursday 27 June 2019 and will mark the UKWA’s 75th anniversary. Around 500 guests are expected to be in attendance, including Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
