Rite-Hite’s Eclipse Dock Shelter keeping Boughey Distribution’s loading bay energy efficient and safe
Rite-Hite, a leading manufacturer of industrial health and safety equipment, has installed 28 of its Eclipse Dock Shelters following a successful trial with Boughey Distribution, one of the UK’s leading logistics providers, to keep its loading docks safe and energy efficient at its new, state-of-the-art warehousing site in Lymedale, Staffordshire.
As with any loading dock operation, effectively managing temperature, weather elements and energy loss can be a significant challenge. After moving into its new distribution centre, Boughey identified a water ingress issue at its loading docks, highlighting an inefficient loading bay with gaps that lead to a needless waste of energy. After an initial and unsuccessful attempt to alleviate the issue with a third-party inflatable dock shelter solution, Boughey turned to Rite-Hite to provide the solution.
Following a successful trial of Rite-Hite’s Eclipse Dock Shelter solution, Rite-Hite has installed a series of 28 across the site. Providing a tight, consistent seal all the way up the trailer sides, across the top, and at the corners, the Eclipse Shelter blocks both light and seals gaps for a dark, environmentally secure dock. Moreover, the seal also prevents unwanted airflow from entering the warehouse environment thus saving significantly on the cost of wasted energy.
In addition to the energy saving benefits, the dock shelter also helps protect people, materials and goods by preventing wind, rain, snow and pests from entering the interior of the building through the dock.
John Houghton, Facilities Manager at Boughey Distribution, says the Eclipse Dock Shelter is delivering real benefits and energy savings: “It was clear from the outset our previous system was not working effectively; water leaked through and if left unchecked would create a hazardous environment for our workers.
“The team at Rite-Hite have made this process as easy as possible for us. The Eclipse has made our loading dock operations safer and more efficient. Following the successful trial period and install at Lymedale, we are considering extending the Rite-Hite solution across our network.”
With a 60-year heritage in transportation logistics, Boughey Distribution is one of the UK’s leading providers to the food industry with extensive experience in the ambient grocery sector having worked with some of the country’s largest retailers in providing bespoke expertise across consolidation, e-commerce and contract packing.
