RENOVOTEC LAUNCHES ‘SWITCH TO ANDROID’ CONSULTING SERVICE FOR SUPPLY CHAIN USERS
Around 70% of the industry is still to make the switch say Renovotec – with current Windows handheld device support ending in January 2020
“With the right technology in the right hands the transition to Android can still be made, quickly and cost-effectively†says Renovotec managing director Richard Gilliard
Renovotec, the UK’s fastest growing independent rugged hardware, software and services provider is launching a dedicated ‘Switch to Android’ consulting service for supply chain users. Renovotec’s own industry feedback indicates that as many as seven in ten (70%) of all warehouse operations have still to make the transition to a more modern, Android operating environment, choosing to continue with a Windows environment despite the fact that support for Windows handheld devices will end in January 2020*.
Launched today, Renovotec’s free ‘Switch to Android’ consulting service builds on the company’s existing Android helpdesk by providing more extensive, practical advice for supply chain users. Having taken advice, if the user then decides to make the move to Android the change can be quickly implemented by a Renovotec team using technology toolsets designed for that purpose.
“This industry has been slow to make the move to Android but with the right technology in the right hands the transition to Android can still be made, quickly and cost-effectively†says Renovotec managing director Richard Gilliard. “Android opens the door to new technologies that have been shown to measurably improve warehousing and logistics performanceâ€.
Longest Android product life span on offer – up to nine years
In a separate but related move Renovotec is introducing a ‘try before you buy’, no obligation scheme for Honeywell’s Dolphin CK65 rugged mobile computer, which boasts the industry’s longest life span – up to nine years. The scheme is designed to encourage CK65 adoption by supply chain companies transitioning to Android but concerned that the new generation of products do not offer the longevity they have been used to.
The rugged Dolphin CK65 is built on the Honeywell Mobility Edge platform and runs on Android. It combines twin touchscreen and keypad data input with real-time connectivity and advanced data capture and has been designed for users transitioning from Windows to Android.
