Leading tractor distributor gives workshop lighting complete overhaul.
Fitzgerald Lighting has recently installed a new LED lighting scheme in the engineering workshop at Alan Snow Agricultural Engineers Ltd in Launceston, Cornwall.
Starting in the back of a van in 1982, Alan Snow is now the distributor for leading tractor brands Fendt (Devon and Cornwall), Massey Ferguson (Cornwall and West Devon) and Valtra (Cornwall and West & South Devon). The company operates from premises in Holsworthy, Launceston and Truro, employs over 40 staff and has recently marked 35 years of trading and 25 years as an authorised Fendt dealer.
Fitzgerald Lighting’s LED Polaris was chosen for the site as an update for its old low bay technology. As an industrial luminaire and a new generation of low bay, the Polaris is designed to create a better light output and ensures up to 90% energy savings. The robust system is ideal for warehouses and factories and is easy to install with a plug and play system, minimising installation costs and future maintenance requirements. 12 luminaires, each of 140W, replaced the traditional lighting in the Alan Snow engineering workshop.
Wayne Rundle, Director at Alan Snow, commented, “When you run a business there always seems to be a list of things that need upgrading or replacing and I must admit lights never seemed high on the agenda. Our engineers were constantly complaining about a lack of light in the workshop and we had various lights on stands that always seemed to be getting damaged. We were also constantly replacing bulbs which was a waste of time and effort.
“We have work benches around the side of the workshop but due to poor lighting these were constantly being pulled around causing conflict between the staff. I think the biggest benefit is that our engineers no longer need head torches and the workshop is a brighter and nicer place to work.”
He continued, “I explained to Fitzgerald the size of our workshop and our requirements and they visited our site and guided me all the way through the sales process. We are very pleased with the total package. When making a purchase it’s not just about the product but also the way the supplying company looks after you from the initial enquiry through to delivery, payment and the performance of the end product, and I feel Fitzgerald made the whole process very simple and straight forward.”
The LED Polaris is a purpose-built, durable luminaire designed for applications such as warehouse racking areas and open areas, factories, retail back of house and workshops. Finished in a resilient white paint finish, the luminaire is designed with a clear polycarbonate screen for even light distribution and plug and play for easy installation.
Developed with a branded European driver, the Polaris is supplied with an open area reflector or rack reflector and occupancy and daylight sensor options are also available. Other optional features can also be specified including 1–10V dimming, DALI dimming and integral three-hour maintained emergency lighting.
Made to IP20 and carrying a five-year warranty, the LED Polaris comes in 105W, 140W, 210W and 280W versions. Available in two sizes, either 790mm long or 1450mm long, both fittings being 57mm deep 357mm wide.
