Indigo appoints Group CEO and expands Executive Leadership Team.
Indigo Software is delighted to announce that former COO, Darren Baxter, has been appointed as the company’s new Group CEO, to lead a newly expanded executive team following the recent appointment of Tony Sweeney as Non-Executive Chairman.
Darren will assume overall responsibility for Indigo’s global business operations, supported by Bill Ginn as Chief Financial Officer, Mike Hill as CEO for Asia Pacific, Mark Leavy and Colin Hough in Sales Management and Peter McLane as Non-Executive Director.
“Technology aside, one of the biggest factors behind Indigo’s continued success is our uncompromising customer focus and the emphasis we place on ensuring we exceed customer expectations. This will continue as we look ahead and consider how to improve and grow our company, by taking full advantage of technological advances and new commercial opportunities,” says Darren Baxter, Group CEO at Indigo Software.
As the technology being used within the warehouse continues to advance at a rapid rate, Darren’s new remit as Group CEO will include continuing to develop the features and functionality offered by Indigo WMS and to identify ways it can be integrated with new and emerging technologies. These include Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Blockchain, Augmented Reality, robotics and automation
technology, plus the new generation of mobile voice recognition applications, such as Alexa and SIRI.
Darren Baxter originally joined Indigo as a Software Analyst / Developer in 1988 and has held a wide range of technical and management roles in the company, giving him a unique insight into the company’s technology capabilities, consulting strengths and culture. Most recently as COO, he led an operations team of 27 staff and worked closely with business managers and consultants to ensure the company delivers quality products and services to its fast-growing customer base.
A qualified business coach, psychologist and facilitator, Tony Sweeney has held many senior leadership roles at major companies including British Airways and Ferranti. He also co-founded his own highly successful training company, Oakridge Consulting and brings an external perspective to Indigo’s existing executive management team.
“I’ll be working closely with Darren and the team, bringing executive management skills and an external perspective, adding value as a voice from outside the business culture, but with the advantage of a very long history of working with Indigo,” says Tony Sweeney, Non-Executive Chairman at Indigo.
“These are interesting times for companies in the warehouse and logistics sectors because automation is becoming more accessible to SMEs and combined with the likely impact of events such as Brexit impacting resourcing costs, we are expecting a big demand for integrated warehouse management solutions across all industry sectors,” says Darren Baxter, Group CEO of Indigo Software.
To address this, Indigo Software is actively looking to develop strategic partnerships with companies offering robotics and augmented reality solutions that can be integrated with Indigo WMS for managing warehouse operations.
