International fulfilment services provider fulfilmentcrowd has announced the opening of a new fulfilment centre in the city of Leipzig, Germany, adding to its growing Fulfilment Partner Network to support rising numbers of eCommerce retailers across Europe.
Joining its existing fulfilment centre in Bocholt, Germany, the business – which specialises in easily accessible, cross-border logistics services for high-growth eCommerce retailers – now offers over 75,000 sq ft of modern warehouse capacity in close proximity to carrier hubs across mainland Germany, in partnership with De Boer Group.
The new Leipzig site operates entirely on biogas and green energy and offers flexible warehousing and fulfilment services for eCommerce retailers as they scale operations and expand into new markets.
Paul Taylor, chief operating officer at fulfilmentcrowd, said: “The new Leipzig centre has opened two months ahead of schedule, which is credit to the team’s drive and determination, in particular project manager Bas Kwakkel and centre manager Kay Kraemer. It’s another key step in our ambitious plans to scale our European operations, as we expand our international Fulfilment Partner Network to offer truly flexible outsourcing solutions for new and existing customers across multiple countries.
“fulfilmentcrowd is built on a trusted network of partner centres, providing the capacity and resources to fulfil orders. We manage this network using our in-house technology, and our variable cost model enables us to simplify pricing and more accurately control margins for customers. Our new partner centre in Leipzig enhances this network and we are already supporting customers in the new site. We have also established further areas for growth on the continent for 2023.”
In addition, BGF-backed fulfilmentcrowd has appointed a head of development for Germany and the Netherlands to support its growing customer base of over 500 eCommerce retailers around the world.
Patrick Vonk joined fulfilmentcrowd in 2019 as its centre manager for Bocholt, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in logistics operations and freight forwarding to the business. In his new role, Patrick will be responsible for growing the business’ customer base in Germany and the Netherlands, as well as developing and nurturing new and existing partnerships with carriers and suppliers to support growing eCommerce retailers to move their goods efficiently and deliver them to customers around the world.
Commenting on his new role, Patrick said: “fulfilmentcrowd’s business model has proven itself in the UK and we see a great opportunity to expand our service offering to other European markets with flexible, digital-first solutions for eCommerce retailers. The fulfilmentcrowd platform sits at the heart of eCommerce, easily linking to a retailer’s existing sales channels, ERP systems and other existing platforms, while the bespoke fulfilmentcrowd app gives retailers greater control, more in-depth oversight of consumer demand, and uses AI such as automated distributed order management to help scale their operations at pace from anywhere in the world.”
fulfilmentcrowd also recently appointed Andrew Turner as chief sales officer to drive the business’ ambitious European growth plans and build a team of dedicated business development managers on the ground in key markets. Andrew joined fulfilmentcrowd from XPO Logistics where he was commercial director for the UK & Ireland. He has spent the last 12 years in senior commercial and business development roles, building profitable long-term partnerships with retail and product brand customers for companies including Yodel and Wincanton PLC.
