A1 GROUP CUTS DRIVER DISTRACTION AND ACHIEVES LEGAL COMPLIANCE WITH FLEET TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION FROM CTRACK
A1 Group, a leading waste management, car spares and road transport specialist, has adopted an AI-powered video telematics and Progressive Safe System (PSS) solution from Ctrack to meet its driver safety and Direct Vision Standard (DVS) commitments. The company is rolling out Ctrack’s AI dashcam to a total of 110 commercial vehicles, having reduced driver distraction events by 40% since an initial installation at the beginning of this year. All vehicles over 12 tonnes that operate in London have also been fitted with an AI PSS to meet the latest DVS regulations.
“The Ctrack AI cameras are already making a positive impact across our commercial fleet giving us greater visibility of operational performance, improving driver behaviour and helping to reduce road risk,” explains Stuart Cawthorne, Transport Manager at A1 Group. “We have previously installed forward-facing dashcams, but these latest devices provide an added layer of protection to our staff and other roads users by helping us combat the dangers associated with driver distraction and fatigue.”
The AI dashcam features a forward-facing camera that captures footage of the road ahead in the event of a collision and a driver-facing lens to assess levels risk and distraction in real-time. This means the device can detect, alert and report on a wide range of risky behaviours – such as using a mobile device, eating, drinking, smoking, fatigue and eyes off the road – which are major causes of collisions.
A1 Group is also using the tracking functionality of the dashcam to monitor operational performance, target productivity improvements and provide updates to customers regarding the progress of scheduled work. Meanwhile, the Ctrack Progressive Safe System (PSS) AI kit ensures that the company’s HGVs meet the latest Direct Vision Standard (DVS) 2024 requirements set by Transport for London, providing advanced vulnerable road user detection and blind spot visibility.
“As a responsible business committed to safety, legal compliance and operational efficiency, we were looking for a reliable and forward-thinking telematics partner. We have received expert support from the Ctrack team, with both solutions installed quickly with minimal disruption. This has enabled us to embed the technology into our existing systems and processes, so we can achieve measurable performance benefits and return of investment,” Stuart Cawthorne.
Steve Thomas, Managing Director of Ctrack UK commented: “Our partnership approach means we are creating bespoke fleet technology solutions that meet precise requirements and provide true value to our customers. With a comprehensive fleet and video telematics offering, underpinned by a powerful software platform, these flexible and use-friendly systems offer proven safety, efficiency and sustainability improvements.”
