International supply chain solutions provider, Elanders, has strengthened its UK market position by securing the rare, highest possible, globally-recognised standard for food safety, and a license to store and distribute alcohol.
Elanders UK has been awarded the notoriously difficult to achieve, AA grade from BRCGS – which only 30% of applicants attain – and an alcohol license for its UK headquarters in Newcastle, North East England.
The new accreditation and license will allow the firm to expand its customer base and better support its clients with compliance, traceability and sustainability.
BRCGS stands for Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standard which is a UK trade organisation recognised worldwide for its Global Standard for Food Safety which helps companies comply with UK and EU food safety legislation.
Following a three-day audit by BRCGS, Elanders were awarded an AA grade, demonstrating its ability to provide safe, high-quality products and services in a responsible way.
Elanders UK supplies customers, including a number of food and drinks brands, with a fully integrated solution, from printing and eco-packaging, to storage, pick and pack, kitting, shipping, and last-mile delivery.
Kevin Rogers, managing director at Elanders UK, said: “The BRCGS Standard assessed us on a range of stringent criteria, covering everything including hygiene and safety, processes, to full traceability of ingredients. To achieve the AA grade means we stand out from many of our competitors in this arena and that food and drink retailers, and their customers, can fully trust any products we handle.
“Our new personal & premise license allows us to store and distribute alcohol to end consumers and retailers which will open doors to new customers and opportunities. This follows the introduction of our eco-friendly packaging alternatives which are ethically sourced and produced in the UK which all strengthen our ‘all-under-one-roof’ sustainable supply chain solutions.”
