Key to Elgiganten’s success is its efficient logistics and on-site productivity, which is paramount at its 95,000 square meter distribution centre. Elgiganten’s distribution facility is responsible for sorting and handling its extensive product range, and ensuring delivery to over 289 electronic shops and online trading locations is as quick and efficient as possible.
To improve its on-site logistics Elgiganten contacted KAUP, the German based forklift truck attachment manufacturer to provide a specialist solution for handling Elgiganten’s broad range of goods. The electronic retailer requested a bespoke attachment that is to not only capable of handling palletized goods, but also non-palletized loads such as white household goods, for example washing machines and fridges etc.
The 1T413G/180TM attachment manufactured by KAUP provides Elgiganten with two attachments in one. The attachment not only handle’s goods stored on pallets, it can also transport non-palletized white goods. The specialist attachment has been designed and manufactured by KAUP with some unique features. It incorporates appliance clamp arms, which have an opening range of up to 1.550mm, used for the palletless handling of white goods. The attachment also incorporates additional folding forks which can be used for transporting palletised loads.
The mechanically folding forks can be tilted upwards when not in use and then lowered downwards when required to handle pallets – extending telescopically to handle 1200 or 1000mm pallets.
