ArrowXL opens Droitwich Spa warehouse ahead of Worcester rebuild.
ArrowXL, the UK’s leading two-man home delivery expert, has strengthened its presence in the West Midlands by signing a two-year lease on a warehouse and distribution centre in Droitwich Spa. The move comes as the delivery firm announces plans to rebuild its facility in Worcester, which was destroyed by a fire in April.
The company will operate out of the 160,000-square-foot Droitwich Spa facility from early next month, with an experienced project team currently preparing the site, including the installation of telephone lines and substantial racking. In response to April’s fire, ArrowXL moved quickly to open a warehouse in Chepstow, whilst providing a daily shuttle bus for employees from the Worcester area. ArrowXL has now chosen the location in Droitwich Spa as part of its commitment to those team members, who will now benefit from a shorter commute. Moving forwards, the organisation will continue to provide free travel for those staff remaining based in Chepstow.
The company will continue to utilise both Droitwich Spa and Chepstow, which provide a combined 311,000 square foot of warehouse space. They will supplement ArrowXL’s nationwide network and infrastructure, including hubs in Wigan, Enfield, Airdrie and Carrickfergus, ahead of the rebuild at Worcester. Following the fire, a special team has been formed to manage the two-year long project, which will create more jobs across the region.
Ian Howell, CEO of ArrowXL, said: “I am extremely proud of how the whole ArrowXL family has reacted and responded to the fire. The team has spent considerable time sourcing and preparing the Droitwich site, which will enable our business to continue providing exceptional levels of service to the UK retail industry.
“We are also excited to confirm that plans are currently in place to rebuild our Worcester facility, which we anticipate will reopen in 2019. In the meantime, we will continue to support all employees from the area, which includes the free shuttle bus service from Worcester to Chepstow.” www.arrowxl.co.uk
